Mom Got Sick, and We Had to Leave Her in Germany

This month was a whirlwind of big moments, challenges, and milestones for our family! It started with a tough situation during our travels. We were wrapping up an incredible holiday trip to Germany and Italy, but Jess’s ear infection made it impossible for her to travel back home. With a heavy heart, she stayed behind in Germany to recover while Garrett managed the journey back to Hawaii with all three kids. Jess, you’re a rockstar for powering through and rejoining us soon after—our family isn’t complete without you.

Back home, Dorothy had her big moment in a community play! This wasn’t just any school production—she auditioned and earned her role, and her performance lit up the stage. Seeing her beam with happiness and confidence made us so proud. One of the best parts? She got to share the experience with her best friend, making it even more special.

Then came Manilla’s adventure—a Mario Kart tournament that started as just a fun idea but turned into a thrilling ride! Competing against over 80 kids, including hardcore gamers, Manilla not only held his own but rose to the challenge. Watching him advance through each round, face setbacks, and ultimately win the entire tournament was an emotional rollercoaster for all of us. Seeing Dorothy cheer him on so passionately made the moment even sweeter. Manilla, your determination and hard work paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of you!

And finally, we celebrated Cali’s 7th birthday! From cinnamon rolls and bacon for breakfast to a perfect day at the beach and video games, it was everything he wanted. Watching him embrace his new "big kid" status and hearing him say he’s ready to take on the waves without holding our hand was a bittersweet reminder of how fast time flies. Cali, we’re so proud of the incredible person you’re becoming—happy birthday, buddy!
