Shoplifting Is OUT OF CONTROL In California

Theft in San Francisco Walgreens is reportedly four times the national average and they're spending 35 TIMES MORE on security guards in San Francisco than anywhere else. The amount of theft taking place has already caused 17 locations to close over the past 5 years.

A director of organized retail crime and corporate investigations said that security guards hired by CVS and Walgreens have been assaulted and that the majority of shoplifting incidents at CVS came from opportunists, but professional crime accounted for 85% of dollar losses.

California’s Proposition 47, passed in 2014, is likely have had an impact: it increased the threshold for thefts to be considered a felony, from $450 to $950.
